Live Activities and workout updates
Keep the current exercise, set, and rest timer visible while a workout is running, without keeping Train Libre open.
Use a workout Live Activity#
- Start a workout from Workout. Train Libre creates the activity automatically; there is no separate start control.
- On iPhone, view it on the Lock Screen. On a supported iPhone, the same activity can also appear in the Dynamic Island. On Android, look for the ongoing workout notification; Android 16 may also show it as a Live Update.
- Tap the activity or notification to return to the live workout. During a rest, use the −15 or +15 seconds control, or tap Skip to end the countdown. Where available, use the set timer control to start or stop a timed set.
- When the set’s required values are already entered, tap the checkmark or Complete set action to record it. If a value is missing, open Train Libre and enter it there.
- When the workout is finished or discarded, its activity or ongoing notification ends.
The card shows the routine title, elapsed workout time, current exercise and set, and the set’s logged or planned values. The system chooses which compact or expanded layout to show. The card does not let you edit weight or repetitions, and it does not finish the workout.
Platform requirements#
- iPhone: Train Libre’s Live Activity requires iOS 16.2 or later and Live Activities enabled for Train Libre in iOS Settings. The Lock Screen presentation works on supported iPhones; Dynamic Island presentations require an iPhone 14 Pro or later. Interactive Live Activity buttons require iOS 17 or later. If Live Activities are disabled, the workout itself still works.
- Android: Train Libre posts an ongoing workout notification on Android 8.0 or later when app notifications are allowed. Android 16 can promote it to a Live Update, but the system decides whether to do so. Earlier Android versions keep the notification with its workout details and available actions. If the notification is missing, allow notifications for Train Libre and check that its workout notification channel is enabled.
Live Activities can be removed by iOS after a long period; a workout lasting more than about eight hours may lose its activity, and iOS removes activities from the Lock Screen after twelve hours. For the card’s detailed layouts, timer behavior, and known limits, see Workout Live Activity.
