Log food with the AI chat

Use the AI assistant to turn a written meal description or an attached photo into a diary entry. The assistant creates a review draft in the chat; it never adds the entry until you apply it.

Add a meal#

  1. Open the AI assistant and describe what you ate. You can attach one or more meal photos to the same message.
  2. Ask explicitly to log it, for example: “Log this as dinner” or “Add this meal to today's diary.” A photo sent without text uses a default request that can prepare a food draft. A question alone does not save an entry; every draft still needs your approval.
  3. Review the meal draft shown below the assistant's reply. Check the meal name, date and meal period, each food name and portion weight, and the estimated calories and macros.
  4. Choose Apply to save it or Discard to leave the Diary unchanged.

The review card uses the same expandable draft and confirmation flow as other AI-created items. Each listed food becomes a macro-only diary entry, so the assistant does not need to find a matching item in the food catalog. Protein, carbohydrates, and fat are stored per 100 g; calories are calculated with the app's existing 4/4/9 factors. Sugar, fiber, salt, and caffeine are included when the estimate provides them.

Photos and corrections#

When you apply a photo-based draft, Train Libre copies the message's attached photos into the meal's permanent diary storage. The saved meal keeps working if you later remove the chat. Discarding the draft does not add a meal photo to the Diary; the attachment remains part of the chat until that chat is removed.

Photo and text estimates can be wrong. Review portion sizes and nutrition before applying. After saving, open the meal in the Diary to edit its name, time, foods, amounts, or nutrient values; you can also use Open on the saved proposal card. For a catalog-backed entry with a barcode or saved product, use the regular food search flow described in Log food and review calories and macronutrients.

Your selected AI provider receives the text and any photos used to prepare the draft. See Configure and use AI Meal Capture and Share Train Libre data with an AI assistant for provider and privacy information.
